In the wild, it grows attached to rocks and wood in fast-flowing rivers and waterfalls, using its strong root system to anchor securely. To mimic its natural habitat in the aquarium, it should be mounted on natural supports such as driftwood, porous stones, or coconut shells.
Coconut halves with entrance openings are especially popular as natural shelters for fish and invertebrates.
