Native to South America, it differs significantly from the well-known M. umbrosum by growing horizontally instead of upright. It spreads across the substrate like a lush green carpet, making it a superior alternative to Hemianthus callitrichoides 'Cuba' with easier maintenance and more stable growth.
This new Pearlwort is especially suited for modern aquascaping and Nano Cubes, thanks to its compact size and strong visual impact. Its round, light green leaves grow on creeping stems, forming a dense, uniform carpet only 3–5 cm tall, with a moderate growth rate that makes it perfect for detailed layouts and natural aquascapes.
