Echinodorus 'Small Bear' has been available since 1995 and is still one of the most popular red-leaved varieties. In the aquarium, this plant produces a compact rosette that ranges from rusty red to deep dark red. Older plants can grow up to 25 cm. As with many Echinodorus varieties, there are large differences between the emerged and submerged leaves. Greenhouse cultivation produces Echinodorus 'Small Bear' with a deep green color, but it develops red underwater leaves after only a few days in the aquarium. It is an endless source of wonder!
