LOBELIA CARDINALIS
The Cardinal Flower is a stem plant native to North America. In the emerged state the leaves are dark olive green with scarlet covering the lower surface. Submerged plants are light green and the leaves are smaller. The fleshy stems grow very slowly and only reach a height of 10-20 cm under water. Lobelia cardinalis is often used in the “Dutch planting style”. In this style, plants are arranged in larger groups in linear rows and are grown to give the impression of a typical flower garden.
