Taxiphyllum barbieri is mistakenly called Java moss. The “true” Java moss, Vesicularia dubyana, has been gradually eliminated since the 1970s in favor of Taxiphyllum barbieri. It is an undemanding and very variable moss that displays different growth habits. It grows well even in very shaded areas and is very tolerant of different water conditions. Anchoring plants to logs and rocks will help create moss landscapes.
