COARSE ARAGONITE – Natural, Renewable Marine Substrate with Coarse Grain, 4.5 kg

COARSE ARAGONITE 4.5 kg is a premium, natural substrate made from oolitic aragonite sand sourced from the pristine waters of the Bahamas. Harvested sustainably, this sand consists of up to 98% pure calcium carbonate in a renewable biogenic form. Its coarse grain size (1–2 mm) makes it ideal for reef aquariums, marine tanks, or African cichlid setups, helping maintain a stable pH of 8.2 without continuous chemical additives.

This aragonite is formed naturally during “merlani” – periodic rain events in the Bahamas where cyanobacterial blooms capture atmospheric CO₂ and trigger mineralization. The result is a unique substrate with high surface area and excellent calcium bioavailability, perfect for fostering beneficial bacteria that aid in ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate reduction.

Key features:
• Natural, renewable oolitic aragonite sand with 1–2 mm coarse grain
• Up to 98% pure calcium carbonate content
• Coarse, dust-free, tasteless, odorless, and highly durable
• Ideal for reef tanks, marine aquariums, cichlids, plenum, and refugium systems
• Excellent buffering capacity – maintains natural pH balance around 8.2
• Over 1 million cm² of bacterial surface area per kilogram
• Sustainably harvested from the crystal-clear oceans of the Bahamas
• Free from tar, organic matter, and impurities
• Superior to ground calcium carbonate (GCC) in structure and efficiency

Why choose COARSE ARAGONITE?
Choosing COARSE ARAGONITE means selecting a high-performance substrate that is both eco-friendly and biologically active. It’s the ideal solution for aquarists who want a stable, natural, and efficient marine environment while protecting coral reefs by avoiding harvested coral sands.
