Rotala Wallichii – Aquarium Plant

Main Features

  • Planting Location: Background
  • Origin: Asia
  • Growth Rate: Slow
  • Height: Up to 40 cm
  • Lighting: Strong
  • CO2: Necessary

Rotala Wallichii is one of the most beautiful species of the Rotala genus, known for its needle-like, delicate red leaves. To thrive, it should not be planted too densely, as the lower parts of the stem are sensitive to lack of light. Due to its relatively slow growth, it should be kept away from fast-growing, invasive species. It requires strong lighting, liquid fertilization, and CO2 for optimal growth. Despite its delicacy, the beauty and uniqueness of this plant make the cultivation effort worthwhile.

Planting Instructions

  1. Remove the plant from the cup and rinse thoroughly under running water.
  2. Divide into small tufts (1-2 cm) and plant at short intervals.
  3. Form a uniform group of mature plants as it grows.

In Vitro Cultivation
The Rotala Wallichii is grown in vitro, free from snails, pests, and algae. The high-quality gel medium ensures quick adaptation to the aquarium.
