Matrix is a highly porous media designed to provide highly effective biofiltration for the removal of ammonia, nitrites, nitrates in freshwater, marine, and reef aquariums. Each liter of Matrix™ provides over 160,000 cm2 (170 m2) of surface area, equivalent to over 40 litres. This product is sold by volume. The reference weight quoted is equivalent to the minimum product weight
How to use:
Use 500 ml of Matrix for every 200 liters of water. Matrix can be placed in any type of filter, and is particularly effective in the filter cassette.
Aerobic bacteria grow on the outer surface of the Matrix and convert ammonia into nitrite and nitrite into nitrate. The porous surface that covers the Matrix is the environment for anaerobic bacteria. These convert the nitrate into nitrogen gas, which is then expelled to the surface of the tank.
