WHAT IS GENESIS ROCK?
Genesis Rock is a 100% ceramic compound fired at over 600 degrees that will last in your aquarium for years. Providing over 23,000 square feet of black space for beneficial aquarium bacteria to grow, these blocks provide a tremendous amount of filtration power and significantly reduce phosphates, nitrates and other dissolved organic compounds. Genesis Rock can be used in freshwater or saltwater aquariums and can be used under your sand or rock substrate, in your refugium or simply hidden in your aquascape.
WHAT IS THE GENESIS OF BACTERIA?
A concentrated blend of dormant bacteria.
In collaboration with a Canadian biotechnology company, we have produced a custom blend of bacterial strains with concentrations of over 80 billion cells/mL. In their planktonic state, these bacteria serve as a highly nutritious food source for corals and zooplankton. More importantly, these complementary bacterial strains form biofilms that consume nutrients.
GENESIS ROCK DIRECTIONS:
Each Genesis Rock can support up to 350 gallons of aquariums, our kit includes 700 gallons of coverage in two rocks
Rinse the material thoroughly with purified water, but preferably aquarium water. Our rock is specifically designed to be non-leaching, so we have very little dust, but we recommend washing just to be safe.
Place Genesis Rock in a plastic container, filling it with aquarium water, then add your favorite bacterial product (our favorite is Polyplab Genesis). Add your bacteria to the container based on the size of the aquarium you are adding the rocks to. Let your Genesis Rocks sit for at least 12 hours, then place them inside your aquarium. If you are not using any bacterial supplements, you can place the rock directly into the aquarium after rinsing. You can discard the soaked water to ensure that microscopic dust is not dislodged into your aquarium.
Aerobic - Optimized for nitrite and ammonia removal
To use Genesis Rocks to create aerobic bacteria, place the blocks above the water level in your refugium, overflow, or suspended in your system. Run tank water over the rocks and allow the overflow to flow into the sump, refugium, or display. Do not run the entire system flush over the rocks, for this application only estimate about 40 gallons per hour.
Anaerobic - Optimized for nitrate removal
Install the Genesis Rocks in a very low flow area that is deprived of as much oxygen below the waterline as possible. This can be a low flow area in the sump or refugium, under the sand, or in your aquascape. Anaerobic bacteria will break down most nitrates in these low oxygen environments.
Aerobic and Anaerobic - Optimized for Overall Performance
Install Genesis Rocks in a medium flow area of your tank, sump, refugium, or other part of your system that has a medium flow of water. This will allow the outside of your Genesis Rocks to grow aerobic bacteria while the inside of your Genesis Rocks grow anaerobic bacteria.
*Be sure not to place the Genesis Rock in areas where it could rub against other equipment and cause damage to the block, such as a vibrating protein skimmer.
GENESIS BACTERIA INDICATIONS:
1 drop per 20 gallons of total system water volume per day. Increase to 4 drops per day per 20 gallons for two weeks if starting a new system.
