The element™ Z reactor is designed to utilize zeolite as a filter medium in the removal of various pollutants from a reef aquarium, while providing a medium to host beneficial bacteria. This filtration method has been shown to increase coral coloration in many cases while reducing organic nutrient loads in reef aquariums to much lower levels. An important factor in using the element™ Z reactor is to use the reactor wash function on the medium 1-2 times per day. Washing the media allows for more efficient filtration by keeping the bio film growing on the media to a minimum and at the same time feeding the reef aquarium inhabitants with the bio film itself
Using the "Easy Wash" feature will release the bacteria into the coral system by alternating cycles on the pumps - easily reverses the flow direction. The "Easy Wash" function includes the ability to add ventilation.
