The Macro Reactor MAR 3181 was developed specifically for the cultivation of algae in marine water and plants in freshwater.
The green algae Chaetomorpha (2) is cultivated by many marine aquarium enthusiasts to remove nitrates and phosphates from the aquatic biotope. It is therefore sufficient to remove a handful of algae from time to time to maintain the biological balance in the aquarium – an excellent and simple alternative to many resins or chemicals.
In freshwater aquariums, the aquatic plant Naja guadalupensis is mainly cultivated, which purifies biotopes such as cichlid aquariums.
The TUNZE® MAR 3181 can be placed in any filter tank or even next to the aquarium without an external filter system. The water circulation in the reactor ensures rotation of the algae culture and thus reduces the number of light sources in the case of strong plant growth. The algae continue to grow even without rotation. Additional light sources can be added to the device depending on requirements.
