PHOSGUARD 500ml
PhosGuard™ rapidly removes phosphates and silicates from marine and freshwater aquariums. It is not suitable for aquariums containing phosphate buffers. The particular structure of PhosGuard™ and its exceptional porosity allow for optimal water flow. The yield is significantly higher than other similar products.
Why it is Different
PhosGuard is the only spherical product on the market. Its shape allows for greater ease of penetration of water through the filter, on the contrary, competing products, of granular form, can become compact drastically limiting their ability to remove phosphates.
Aluminum oxide is not regenerable.
ALUMINUM OXIDE, SOLUBLE ALUMINUM AND TOXICITY FOR CORALS
Recently there was discussion about the fact that aluminum oxide, as a basic product for removing phosphates like PhosGuard, released aluminum into the water, extremely harmful to corals. Seachem has therefore begun a thorough study on this thesis, also carrying out numerous experiments to verify the solubility and toxicity of aluminum in water.
The result is that aluminum oxide is extremely insoluble in water and its use does not cause the release of soluble aluminum or other elements that could have negative effects on the inhabitants of your aquarium. In-depth scientific studies have in fact demonstrated that there are no analytically appreciable releases of aluminum even with dosages 3 times higher than the recommended doses (in this last case Seachem chemists have detected 0.2 mg/l of aluminum with a pH of 5.3)
How to use:
To maximize its performance, PhosGuard™ should be placed where the water flow is greatest. Suitable for any type of filter. In some situations it may be necessary to use a filter bag.
Use 250 ml of product for every 300 liters of water.
Allow the product to act for 4 days and then test the concentration of phosphates or silicates with Multitest™: Phosphate or Multitest™: Silicate. If the concentration of the components you are trying to remove has not fallen below 0.02 mg/l, leave PhosGuard™ in place. As long as the concentrations remain under control, the product will not run out. Super treatments are not necessary. PhosGuard™ does not release phosphates and silicates. Continuous use of the product is recommended to obtain better results than occasional use of even larger quantities.
