SAFETY STOP
Safety Stop is a simple and effective way to protect your saltwater and freshwater aquarium fish from serious, unwanted diseases caused by external parasites and bacterial and fungal infections. New fish are often the source of infectious diseases that can destroy an entire aquarium. Be proactive and give your fish a Safety Stop bath to significantly reduce the risk of introducing deadly diseases. Protect your investment!!!
While there is no substitute for prolonged quarantine of new fish in a separate hospital tank, it is often not practical. We recommend using the Safety Stop before introducing the new fish to your main aquarium or quarantine tank. For owners of multiple tanks, it should be used every time a fish is transferred from one tank to another, including all quarantine tanks.
How to use the product:
Bring your fish from the fish store directly to your home without delay. Acclimatize your fish to the same temperature and pH as your aquarium before performing the Safety Stop bath.
While your fish are acclimating, prepare the two baths: in clean, non-metallic containers (such as a plastic or glass bucket), add one quart of water directly from the aquarium to each bucket. Using scissors, cut the edge of the product packages and pour PART A into the first container and PART B into the second container. Watch for any temperature changes.
Gently agitate both solutions with an air stone. Leave the air stones in the container to oxygenate the water while the fish are in the tank.
Remove the fish to be treated from the acclimation water and place them in the PART A bath for 45 minutes (30 minutes if the fish were shipped overnight within the last 72 hours). Keep a loose cover over the tank to ensure the fish do not jump out. Observe the fish carefully for signs of stress throughout the entire treatment process. Signs of stress include heavy breathing, erratic swimming, rolling, etc. If the fish shows signs of stress, reduce the time and immediately place them in the PART B tank.
After Part A, transfer the fish to the Part B bath for 45 minutes. Continue to watch for signs of stress. If signs of stress occur, remove them before the end of treatment and transfer them to a quarantine tank or prepared aquarium. Do not put bath water in the aquarium. After treatment B, place the fish in the net in the aquarium.
Observe the fish after introduction to ensure that tankmates do not disturb them. It is a good idea to feed the aquarium at the same time as introducing the new fish to keep the resident fish occupied. Keep light levels low for 24 hours after introduction.
NOTE:
The bath should be discarded after several hours, but can be used on multiple fish at once within a few hours.
This dip protocol is intended for ornamental fish only.
DO NOT USE ON INVERTEBRATES
