Unlike many other Nymphoides species with floating leaves, this species only forms leaves under water. The decorative, bright, light green leaves provide an excellent contrast to other green or colorful aquarium plants. The origin of this species is still uncertain: the first specimens were imported from Taiwan. Hence the name of the variety of this low-maintenance Nymphoides species, "Taiwan". This plant is also particularly suitable for Discus aquariums. The fish like to stay under the foliage.
