The loricarid group is not at all homogeneous regarding its dietary needs. Most loricarid species are herbivorous, feeding on algae and plants. Many of the herbivores feed on wood. Furthermore, there are species, such as the zebra pleco and the leopard pleco, which are not vegetarians but feed on microorganisms, insects and even dead fish. For these species JBL PRONOVO TAB is the right choice. For all other loricarids we have developed JBL PRONOVO PLECO, in two sizes.
Some loricarid species do not come out of their shelter while the light is still on. So if you feed the food tablets with the light on, they will melt and be eaten by the other fish – as long as they like the vegetable tablets. In this case we recommend giving JBL PRONOVO PLECO only AFTER turning off the light. The wafers (finer chips of food tablets) dissolve less quickly so their consistency is still such that the loricarids have a lot to scrape during their period of activity (it's important for their teeth, seriously!).
What to do if you house several bottom inhabitants in the same aquarium?
Fish also have a sense of taste and don't eat what they don't like. Furthermore, in aquariums, there is NO species among the bottom inhabitants for which tablets of another species would create problems. Therefore you can give both types of tablets at the same time (e.g. JBL PRONOVO PLECO for herbivorous plecos and JBL PRONOVO TAB for carnivorous or omnivorous plecos). On the contrary, it is even positive for the fish because they will have a more varied diet and each species will receive the suitable feed.
