PRONOVO SPIRULINA GRANO M

250ml

Spirulina is a blue algae, of which some species, such as the spirulina platensis processed here, have an ideal protein content for feeding ornamental fish. By the way, the spirulina content of 20% in JBL PRONOVO SPIRULINA food is perfect – a higher percentage would not be healthy for the fish! The natural astaxanthin (a carotene) present in the algae ensures the beautiful color of the fish. This is also why spirulina algae is very popular for feeding ornamental fish.

Probiotics or prebiotics?

Probiotic feeds, such as some types of yogurt, contain cultures of live bacteria to promote health, but only when consumed in large quantities. These foods, including probiotic fish foods, can spoil easily. Their positive effect on health, by the way, is controversial. Prebiotics are “substrates that host microorganisms selectively utilize for health benefits.” Scientists agree that they aid digestion and are therefore optimal for health. In the case of our fish there is another fundamental aspect: with better digestion, excrement is reduced and the water will therefore be less polluted, causing fewer algae problems and keeping the water cleaner.

Flakes or granules?

Honestly, it's a matter of opinion! There are very few arguments for or against this type of food. If you use an automatic feeder like JBL AutoFood, you MUST choose granules, as almost all automatic feeders are only suitable for granules. If you plan to use an automatic feeder for your next holiday, accustom your fish to granulated food from the automatic feeder WELL IN ADVANCE. Some fish find it particularly difficult to switch from granulated to flaked food and vice versa. Imagine that you have always eaten cornflakes, and for the first time you are only given wholemeal musli.
