Iron - The key element for healthy aquatic plants.
Iron is essential for all aquatic plants, necessary for the formation of such a vital element as chlorophyll.
In fact, without chlorophyll, the process of photosynthesis cannot take place in plants.
The symptoms of an iron deficiency appear immediately: the leaves, especially the young ones at the apex of the shoots, turn yellow and lose consistency (iron chlorosis).
Important: Plants can only absorb the so-called "white" bivalent iron.
Unfortunately, this type of iron is not stable in the aquarium, but oxidizes easily, thus transforming into "dark" trivalent iron, which is of no effect.
As for tap water, it has a practically zero iron content.
The life of aquatic plants therefore depends on regular fertilization that provides them with the iron they need.
