Iodine must be added regularly to the aquarium. It has the characteristic of precipitating very quickly, which is further accelerated by the addition of ozone, carbon filtering or the addition of defoamer. Furthermore, iodine is deteriorated by the effect of light. An iodine deficiency prevents the growth of invertebrates and corals, and leads to discoloration. Echinoderms require iodine for the growth of their shell, crustaceans and shrimps for the hardening of their chitin shell after moulting. For the long-term care of Xenia colonies and various types of algae, such as various species of Caulerpa, Halimeda and many brown algae, regular administration of iodine is essential.
Dosage:
1ml of product in 100 liters raises iodine levels by 100 ug/l.
