CARBON REEF SPEC

Marine Aquarium Carbon

1000ml

The particle size of Reef Spec Carbon and its micro/macro porous structure guarantee a very high total absorption capacity and a rapid reduction of organic pollutants found in marine aquariums.

REEF-SPEC ™ Carbon has an extremely low phosphate release and a minimal ash content and does not affect the pH of the water in any way.

Red Sea REEF-SPEC ™ Carbon needs to be replaced less frequently than classic non-specific reef or lower quality carbons and represents an effective and economical solution to provide the best water quality in marine and reef aquariums.

  • Rapid removal of organic pollutants
  • High total adsorption capacity
  • Ultra-low phosphate release
  • Ultra-low ash content
  • Suitable for seawater and freshwater
  • Filter bag included

Technical specifications:

  • Granulometry: 0.6-2.3 mm
  • Density: 0.48 g/ml
  • Pore volume (PV): 1.04 ml/g
  • Total surface area (TSA): 1000 m2/g
  • TSA/PV: 990 m2 / ml
  • Adsorption of small organic molecules: 1000 mg / g
  • Adsorption of large organic molecules: 280 mg / g
  • pH in distilled water: >8
  • Phosphate release 0.000001 g / ml
  • Recommendations:

The adsorption activity of carbon relies on good carbon/water contact and therefore a moderate water flow will increase the efficiency. A strong water flow, on the other hand, will reduce the contact time and interfere with the adhesion process of organic molecules to the carbon. A strong water flow can also cause the granules to fuse with each other, releasing carbon debris into the water

  • Remove any residue by rinsing the carbon under tap water.
  • Due to the air trapped in the pores, the carbon floats and therefore it is recommended to immerse it in osmosis water until all the air has been released.
  • Place the carbon in a place with a flow of 1000-1500 l/h (250-400 g/h) per 50 gr.
  • Replace the carbon every 1.5 - 2 months.
