Hard corals need calcium, carbonate, magnesium, strontium and barium to form the skeleton. Organic compounds and nutrients, consisting of carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P), are needed for biomass production.
Nutrients enrich the supply of essential products by providing essential compounds and nutrients.
Scientific studies have shown that the building blocks of carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) are consumed in a fixed ratio (Refield Ratio). If one of these components is lacking, organisms in the reef aquarium cannot develop properly and can give way to parasites such as cyanobacteria.
