Hard corals need calcium, carbonate, magnesium, strontium and barium to form their skeleton. For the production of biomass, organic compounds and nutrients are required, consisting of carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P).
Nutrients enrich the supply of essential products by providing essential compounds and nutrients.
Scientific studies have shown that the building blocks of carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) are consumed in a fixed ratio (Refield Ratio). If one of these components is in short supply, the organisms in the reef aquarium cannot develop properly and can give rise to parasites such as cyanobacteria.
